Project Overview
Swinerton graded 397,000 cubic yards of dirt, prepared seven building pads, installed a 675‑foot underground utility tunnel, and constructed a 105-foot-long reinforced concrete bridge at University of California Merced. New utility services installed at the campus included potable water, reclaimed water, chilled and heated water, sewerage, gas, two 750KW generators, electrical conduits and wiring for power distribution, and wiring for telecommunications and information technology networks. The project entailed the construction of a 24,000-square-foot Central Plant and Communication Center and a two million-gallon, 92-foot-high thermal energy storage tank. The entire UC Merced campus is LEED® Certified.
This project was delivered by Swinerton Builders, prior to the establishment of Swinerton Energy.
